Bummed!

Good morning! Ever since we learned about the little guy we hope to adopt, we've kicked things into high gear. We thought we might be traveling to meet him in January, so we've hurried up to finish documents for registration. We're almost there, just waiting on our slightly amended home study to come in the mail. Then we'll be off with a slew of documents to be apostilled. Well, we found out last night that the little guy's legal paperwork won't be ready until late April. That basically means that we won't be able to visit him until then. So, we're bummed.

Thankfully, we've learned to wait. Our last adoption gave us a wonderful lesson in patience from the Lord. It was a 2 1/2 year journey from start to finish. He truly blesses those who wait on Him. Our two wonderful boys are living proof of that. We know all this, and yet, we are still weak and have our moments of impatience and frustration. Forgive us, Lord! Despite all the waiting, things still seem to be moving much faster than they did last time. We keep trying to remember that as well. The Lord's timing is good, whatever it may be.

We ask for your prayers as we complete registration paperwork and wait for a few months yet to travel. In the meantime, it's fun to share the joy of other families who are at different stages in their adoptions. Our prayers are with you as well. The Lord bless you all as you prepare to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Christ the Lord!

Love,

Joel, Clarion, Slav & Sergei

  2. Aww, that is definitely a bummer. So sorry to hear that, but the time will fly and the next thing you know - you are looking into your son's beautiful eyes. :)

  3. Sorry to hear you'll have to wait longer. It really becomes a test of patience and faith, doesn't it? Is it a sign-off or database timeline issue? Do you know which baby house he's in?

  5. Sabrina, it's a database timeline issue. When they first told us about him a few weeks ago, they weren't sure how long it would be before he would be available. Looks like he's not available until April. We still might be able to get a medical on him sometime soon. April isn't too far off, but as you all know, it's hard when you look at his picture every day. We haven't been told for sure what baby house he's in, but it probably the one in the little factory town outside of Artem. That's where most of his siblings have been prior to adoption.

  6. You have my prayers Joel and Clarion. April isn't too far off when it means the boys can be together. I think you know my oldest's story - separated from his little brother (that he knew). We work to get the boys together and keep them in touch but our Sergei misses his little brother all the time. So, I love what you are doing to keep these boys together.

    Blessings for a wonderful Christmas!@

  7. Sorry to hear of the delay - we've had our share of them ourselves. But you're right - it's all in God's time. Merry Christmas!

  8. Hi! I stumbled across your blog tonight. We're also in St. Louis and just brought our girl home from Moscow in August. Just wanted to say hello.

I'm sorry about the delay to go meet your little one.
